Mason's Moon

Buzz Aldrin, Scottish Rite Mason, was the firstastronaut to walk on the moon. Aldrin also planted a double-headedeagle flag on the soil of the moon’s surface, claiming the moon as territorybelonging to the Supreme Mother Lodge of Freemasonry.

Astronaut Edwin “BUZZ” Aldrin, 33° Mason, a memberof Clear Lake Lodge # 1417 in Texas, presents the Scottish Rite flagcarried to the moon on Apollo 11 in 1969 to Masonic Grand Commander Luther A.Smith (from the book, Lodge of the Double headed Eagle, by William L.Fox, University of Arkansas Press, 1997).  He carried a specialdeputation from his Grand Master to claim the moon as being in the territorialjurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Texas.
